COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We will start with the most common question of all.
Why is it a whole year later after we harvest our deer until we are invited to a banquet?
The deer season ends at the end of January/first of February.  We then have to wait the 60 days for the dry down period in order to score the deer which puts us into April.  We hold different scoring events throughout the state, starting in March at the expo (too early for some deer to be eligible to be scored) and many in April and then others all summer long.  We will give all of our scorers plenty of time to get these hundreds of deer scored.  We will generally give the scorers a cut off date late in the summer or early fall, to complete all score sheets and send them in to the secretary.  Once the secretary has all the sheets, each score sheet has to be re-added and checked to make sure all is signed and proper.  We are talking about 700 to 800 score sheets to be processed by one person.  So this takes some time.  Once each sheet is checked, a post card is sent out to congratulate you on your trophy deer.  Then we can start making up certificates after all is finalized.  So we can hold the banquet anytime after the first of the year.  That is the process.

How long is the waiting period after I harvest my buck until the antlers can be scored?  There is a 60 day drying period.  At 60 days or after you can have the antlers officially scored.

Does my initial membership fee include my banquet ticket?  No it does not.

What is the cost per year to continue to be an active member?  $5 per year.

What is the cost for a lifetime membership? $100 and you are in for life.

How do I go about paying my yearly or lifetime membership fee?  You are welcome to either send a check to Mike Rex or pay online by paypal or pay when you attend the banquet.  Just let us know what the money is for.

When scoring a deer, do I add in the outside spread and tip to tip measurements?   No. Those measurements are for identification purposes only.

Do I measure tine length to the center of the main beam or the top of the main beam?  To the top.

How soon will I receive the post card notifying me that my deer has been accepted into the club?
Usually anywhere from 2 months to 6 months depending on when your scorer turns their sheets in to the secretary.

How do I find out what is happening with the club?  You frequently check the web site. It will be updated on a regular basis.

When do I receive my certificate?  You will receive your post card first letting you know that everything has been received and is correct.  Then as it gets closer to the time of the banquet, you will receive a letter inviting you to the banquet.  At that time you will want to send in for your tickets quickly so that you are guaranteed a seat at the banquet.  You will receive your certificate at the banquet.

If I am unable to attend the banquet, how do I receive my certificate?  If you are unable to attend, your certificate will be mailed to you sometime after the banquet.  It takes a few month to get all of the certificates mailed out.
